Julie Bartholomew’s ceramic practice is inspired by contemporary cultural issues and social debates, her beautifully intricate works are imbued with a deeper meaning.  The exhibition ‘Tread carefully’ offers, as Julie explains, “a double edged warning about the dangerous impact of meddling with the environment and simultaneously, our attempts to fix intrusions into natural cycles with scientific methods. These assemblages visualize the interrelated natural and man-made worlds in a delicate and beautiful, but unnerving manner.” Julie has been exhibiting both nationally and internationally for over twenty-five years and her work is represented in collections including the National Gallery of Australia, the WOCEK International Ceramics Collection, Korea.
